UDHA - Introduction
Uganda Development & Health Associates (UDHA) started out of need – the need of professions who wanted to find an additional way to contribute to the well being of the marginalised society. At UDHA, we realise that Uganda’s future is in its young people. If they are empowered and healthy, Uganda will blossom, if they are not, the future of Uganda may be bleak. Universal primary and secondary education is already provided by the national government, and efforts are underway to improve it. However, gaps remain in enhancing the reproductive health, rights and empowerment of young people. At UDHA, we strive for a society in which young people are fully empowered to participate and take care of the community’s own health and development.
Because life is a continuum, we will target children, the youth including sexual and reproductive health for young women in hard to reach areas with poor access to social services such as slums and rural areas. Our aim is to ensure that children and young people are given adequate protection against exploitation and consequently contribute to their growth and development potential. This is a worthwhile long term investment of great value to the individual communities and the country at large. To this end, we consider young girls, boys and women, and the communities in which they come from as key strategic partners.
